According to the National Institute of Health, there is no known cause of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA). Also known as juvenile chronic polyarthritis, Still’s disease and juvenile idiopathic arthritis, this debilitating disease is thought to be an autoimmune illness that causes the body to attack and destroy healthy body tissue by mistake. However, if your doctor merely looks at blood work, x-rays and your joints for the answer, then he or she might be looking in the wrong places.

Take 13-year-old Kristina for example. She was a typical case of polyarticular JRA, which involves many joints. This form of JRA can turn into rheumatoid arthritis and involve five or more large and small joints of the legs and arms, as well as the jaw and neck.

Arthritis, a form of rheumatic disease, is characterized by inflammation and loss of function in some parts of the body. Osteoarthritis damages cartilage, joints, and bones.

Rheumatoid arthritis is another form of arthritis that attacks the synovial lining of joints, causing pain, stiffness, swelling, and loss of function. A growing body of research suggests that dietary changes may help alleviate the chronic pain associated with this condition.

Omega-3 Fats

A substantial amount of research suggests that omega-3 fatty acids may prevent inflammation in the body and reduce symptoms associated with arthritis. Researchers from the Center for Genetics, Nutrition and Health have discovered that the COX-2 enzymes that cause joint inflammation are more active when you eat a high ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids.

Omega-6 fats are prevalent in the American diet, found in meat, corn, snack foods, and sunflower oil. Try reducing your intake of these fats while increasing your consumption of healthy omega-3 fats, which are found in salmon, sardines, mackerel, trout, flaxseeds and walnuts.

9 Reasons to Drink Lemon Water in the Morning

Did you know that lemons have more potassium than apples or grapes? This interesting fact is just one of the many reasons why drinking lemon juice every morning can impact your health. Starting your day with lemon juice is an excellent way to boost vitality, increase energy and cleanse out your system. The first thing you put in your body each day can have a big impact on your productivity and mood. That’s why it’s recommended to start the day with a warm jar of lemon water.

Vegetable and Fish Oils for Reduction of Rheumatic Pain

Oils extracted from cold water fatty fishes are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which reduce inflammation. At least 20 clinical studies have by now shown that consuming high doses of fish oil every day can help ease pain and inflammation caused by rheumatoid arthritis.

Based on the 2001 research made by researchers from Epsom General Hospital and the University of Glasgow, it was concluded that adding food containing fish oils to your nutrition can lead to ''a considerable appeasement of the morning stiffness and reduce the number of painful joints in patients suffering from RA''.
